Sarawak Federation examines possibility of importing oil and gas to Cambodia via Kampot Multipurpose Port

Following an official meeting with H.E. Peng Ponea, Minister of Public Works and Transport, on 7th October 2025, held at Kilo 12 Village, Koh Touch Commune and Boeung Touk Commune, Bokor City, Kampot Province, the delegation from the Federal State of Sarawak, led by Datuk Dr. Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Deputy Minister in the Premier of Sarawak’s Office, Malaysia paid a visit to Kampot Multipurpose Port. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Neak Oknha Dr. Vinh Hour, Chairman of Kampot Port Co., Ltd.

During the visit, Oknha Wing Kevin, CEO of Kampot Port Co., Ltd., led the delegation on a study tour to the port’s infrastructure, presenting on cargo loading and unloading operations, the total land area of the port and the special economic zone as well as the port’s geographical location.

As a result of the visit and presentation, the delegation from the Federal State of Sarawak, led by Datuk Dr. Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Deputy Minister in the Premier of Sarawak’s Office, Malaysia, expressed interest in exploring potential investment and cooperation opportunities for the import of oil and gas by sea from the Federal State of Sarawak to Cambodia, utilizing Bintulu International Port and Kampot Multipurpose Port (KMP).
